Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 29, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Skinvio ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you use our iOS mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect basic information such as your email address and name. This information is used to authenticate your account and enable sync functionality across your devices.

Profile and Preferences

To provide personalized skincare wellness guidance, we collect information you provide about your skin type, skin concerns, age range, and skincare goals. You may also set preferences for how you use the App, such as notification settings and display preferences.

Selfie Images and Scan Data

When you choose to take a Skinvio scan, the App collects the selfie photo you provide and derives non-identifying cosmetic image signals such as lighting, sharpness, color/redness balance, contrast, texture signal, scan confidence, and cosmetic scan scores. Skinvio uses Apple's on-device Vision face detection only to confirm that the photo contains one centered face and is usable for a scan.

Skinvio does not collect Face ID data, faceprints, biometric templates, facial-recognition identifiers, or face geometry for identifying or authenticating you. Selfie images are always stored locally on your device. Additionally, to help improve Skinvio's analysis models, selfie images are uploaded to our secure private cloud storage immediately after each scan — even if you do not have a Skinvio account. These guest scan photos are stored in a private bucket that is not accessible to other users and are automatically and permanently deleted after 30 days unless you create a Skinvio account before then. When you are signed in, selfie images are synced to your personal account so you can access your scan history across devices. Scan results, including skin scores and analysis data generated from your photos, are also stored and synced.

Skincare Routine and Ingredient Data

We collect information about the skincare routines you save and track, as well as any cosmetic ingredient lookups you perform using the ingredient checker feature. This helps us provide you with better recommendations and track your progress over time.

Purchase and Subscription Information

We collect information about your subscription status and purchases made through the App. Payment transactions are processed by Apple through the App Store and managed by RevenueCat. We do not collect or store your payment card details.

Device and Usage Data

We automatically collect certain technical information about your device and how you use the App, including device type, operating system version, app version, crash reports, and diagnostic data. This information helps us identify and fix bugs, improve performance, and understand how users interact with our features.

Anonymous Product Analytics

To understand which features are actually used and where people get stuck, we record anonymous product events — for example, that a screen was opened, a scan was started, or a subscription screen was shown. These events are stored against a random identifier generated on your device at install time. They are not linked to your account, email, selfie images, scan scores, or skin profile, and we do not use them to build a profile of you or to track you across other apps or websites.

This analytics data is not used for advertising, is never sold, and is not shared with advertisers or data brokers. You can turn it off at any time in the App under Settings → Privacy & safety → Share anonymous usage data. Turning it off stops collection and discards anything still queued on your device.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the App's features and functionality
  • Process your selfie images to generate non-medical skincare wellness analysis and recommendations
  • Estimate cosmetic skin metrics such as hydration appearance, texture appearance, pore visibility, clarity appearance, redness appearance, and fine-line appearance
  • Check scan photo quality and provide retake guidance when lighting, centering, or sharpness is not sufficient
  • Store and sync your data across devices when you are signed in
  • Personalize your experience based on your skin profile and preferences
  • Process and manage your subscription to Skinvio Premium
  • Provide customer support and respond to your inquiries
  • Improve the App's performance, features, and user experience
  • Measure anonymous, non-identifying usage of App features so we can improve them, unless you opt out in Settings
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and bugs
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use

3. Camera Access and Photo Handling

Skinvio requests access to your device camera solely to capture selfie images for skin analysis purposes. The App does not access your photo library or any images other than those you explicitly capture within the App for analysis.

When you take a selfie scan:

  • The image is stored locally on your device
  • The image is uploaded to our secure private cloud storage to help improve Skinvio, regardless of whether you have an account
  • If you do not create a Skinvio account within 30 days, the uploaded photo is automatically and permanently deleted from our servers
  • If you are signed in, the image is additionally synced to your personal account so you can view your history across devices
  • The image and your profile context may be sent to our backend services and OpenAI for AI-powered skin analysis
  • Skinvio does not use face data for advertising, tracking, identity verification, face recognition, or training facial-recognition systems
  • You can delete your selfie images and scan history at any time through the App settings

4. AI Processing and Third-Party Services

To provide skin analysis and personalized recommendations, we use artificial intelligence technology. Your selfie images, along with your profile information and skin concerns, may be sent to OpenAI's services to generate skincare wellness analysis and recommendations.

We also work with the following third-party service providers:

  • Supabase: Provides authentication, database, cloud storage, and backend functions for account management and data sync
  • RevenueCat: Manages in-app subscriptions and purchase validation
  • OpenAI: Processes selfie images submitted for AI-enhanced scan guidance and returns structured skincare wellness results
  • Product Databases (e.g., Open Beauty Facts): Provides cosmetic ingredient information and product data for the ingredient checker feature

These service providers are contractually obligated to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we specify. We encourage you to review their privacy policies to understand how they handle data.

For a plain-language explanation of Skinvio's AI scan limits, product data sources, and recommendation approach, see the Skinvio Trust Center.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We only share your information in the following circumstances:

We do not sell selfie images, face photos, or scan data, and we do not share them with advertisers or data brokers.

  • Service Providers: We share data with trusted third-party service providers (listed above) who help us operate the App
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government regulation
  • Business Transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction
  • Protection of Rights: We may disclose information to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or the public

6. Payments and Subscriptions

All payment transactions for Skinvio Premium subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store using your Apple ID. We do not collect, process, or store your payment card details. Apple's privacy policy and terms govern how your payment information is handled.

We receive subscription status information from RevenueCat (such as whether you have an active subscription) to enable Premium features, but we do not receive your actual payment information.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. You can delete your account and associated data at any time through the Settings section of the App.

Local scan photos remain on your device until you delete your data or uninstall the App. Synced scan photos and scan results remain with your Skinvio account so you can view progress history and restore scans across devices.

Guest scan photos: Scan photos uploaded without a Skinvio account are stored in a private, access-controlled bucket on our servers and are automatically and permanently deleted after 30 days. These photos are never shared with other users or made publicly accessible.

When you delete your account:

  • Your account information, profile data, selfie images, scan history, and saved routines will be permanently deleted from our systems
  • Some data may be retained in backup systems for a limited time before permanent deletion
  • Data required for legal, tax, or accounting purposes may be retained as required by law
  • Anonymous or aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained for analytics purposes

Important: Deleting your account does not cancel your App Store subscription. You must manage your subscription separately through your Apple ID account settings.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. We use industry-standard security practices including encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication, and restricted access to personal data.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

Skinvio is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information as quickly as possible.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@skinvio.app.
